Anizham – The Rhythm of the Boats
The fifth day of Onam, Anizham, is when the festival's energy shifts from homes to the rivers of Kerala. This day is marked by Vallamkali, the famous snake boat races. Imagine over a hundred men rowing in perfect unison, their oars cutting the water to the rhythm of vanchipattu (boat songs) and drums. It's more than a sport; it's a powerful display of community, a lesson in moving together toward a common goal.
Here in Mumbai, while we may not have snake boats, we embrace this spirit of unity through our communities—friends, family, and even strangers coming together to celebrate. This sense of togetherness is our Vallamkali.
At Just Kerala, Anizham is our inspiration. We strive to work like the boat teams, with one rhythm and one goal: to serve you with love. This year, that rhythm leads us to the Grand Onam Sadya on September 5, 2025. Join us to celebrate the spirit of Anizham and enjoy an authentic Onam feast!
