Chodhi is the day that follows Chithira. The third day is marked by the buzz around the markets and the buying of gifts. New clothes, utensils, accessories, etc. regarding Onam is bought on this day. Gifts are bought for Family and the close relatives. Even the servants of the house are not left out and are gifted along with everyone!
Due to the sudden increase in media and technology, the shopkeepers find new and innovative ways to market their products. There are no set rituals for this day but new flowers are added to the pookalam and the designs are improved as a result the pookalam increases in diameter. It should be noted that every day is dedicated to a different deity and hence different flowers are used.
